Along with our whole wheat pizza crust recipe, we also decided to top it with some pizza sauce with ingredients we had harvested from our garden and had stored in the freezer (that way, we can pretend it’s warm outside). You can adjust it to your taste and it makes enough for a generous amount for two large pizzas.
Ingredients:
2 cups diced tomatoes
3 garlic cloves
2 Tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons sugar or honey
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon parsley
2 teaspoons basil
Salt to taste
In a medium saucepan, heat the ingredients for about fifteen minutes or until veggies are soft and garlic becomes fragrant. Blend until smooth with an immersion blender (or in a regular blender). Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Spread over pizza crust and put on your favorite toppings, then bake.
