As long as Jack and I have been married, we’ve done our best to observe the command to, “remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy.” For the most part, I do alright. We attend church, call family to check in, serve people, take naps, read, play games, take strolls around the property… all good things. What I’ve struggled with lately, is using it as one more day to catch up. Yes, I’m still doing most of those good things, but it’s harder to be present when I’m squeezing in a load of laundry or washing one more load of dishes before I sit down to have time with my family. Even the Lord, after spending six days to create the earth, took a break, and I know he probably had a laundry list worth of things that still needed to be tended. But sometimes, it’s good to step back, turn a blind eye to the mess and undone checklist, and enjoy the good things that are right in front of me. My husband, my kids, the beautiful weather, our amazing property, the wonderful animals, and all our incredible blessings. ๐ The Sabbath is an adventure and celebration in itself of all that is good about the mess and the process and chaos of life.
