Though I love the 7UP Biscuits recipe, I don’t always have pop in the house. This recipe is a great basic recipe for biscuits to accompany stews and soups, under sausage gravy or smothered with butter and jam.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 425F. Sift together the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening until it resembles course meal. Gradually stir in milk until dough is soft and slightly sticky but not stiff.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for a minute or two. Roll dough to one inch thick. Cut biscuits out, dipping the cutter in flour. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
