My girls have certainly inherited my fascination with animals. Where most little kids (and some adults!) shriek in disgust and horror, my kids and I chase down and entertain ourselves with local wildlife.
The trickiest part about children handling small creatures is that they aren’t quite sure how tight to hold on. When the animal squirms, the kids naturally squeeze a little more.
With a lot of gentle reminders, Evelyn has been able to avoid any harm to the little toads, snakes and frogs she’s discovered hopping and slithering across our yard. I’m sure for that, they’ve been very thankful.
