October seemed to fly by and culminated with a fantastic Halloween. Sure, it was cold, windy and sleeting but thankfully, I have enough midwest Halloweens under my belt that I know that chances are, costumes are paired with coats.

Now that our girls are getting old enough to really enjoy Halloween, we’ve begun some traditions of our own. Of course, we always carve pumpkins, this year enjoying warm enough weather to carve them out on the deck (although we miss going to the pumpkin patch)…

…we went to a haunted house, made Halloween sugar cookies, made elaborate My Little Ponies costumes

…watched some Halloween classics (think Addam’s family and Nightmare Before Christmas), made festive felt shirts….

…decorated the house, went to our church’s Trunk or Treat, trick or treated at the library…

…and come Halloween, volunteered to run pumpkin bowling for Evie’s kindergarten class and braved the blustery weather to go out with friends. We came home with a fair share of loot.

After seeing so many friends and the girls enjoying the generosity of others, we came home, warmed up, and went right to bed.
