Jack’s favorite pets.

After the death of our poor honeybees the past winter, Jack did a little research and found a guy selling bee nucs (short for nucleus–a queen and a few hundred workers) that conveniently was on the way home from our fun weekend.  We paid, stuck the girls in the trunk and headed home.

In the fading sunlight, Jack dumped the new girls into their home sweet home and has been nursing them along every evening when he gets home.  He’s battled invading ants and fed them some leftover maple water to supplement their food supply.
