It’s that time of year where ants seem to think they’re invited to every meal in your kitchen.  Here’s a very effective, inexpensive and simple way to get rid of them (unless of course, you enjoy squashing each one or wiping them up).  I put it out yesterday morning and already the ants have vanished.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons (1/8 cup) water
3/4 teaspoon Borax

Combine all ingredients and swish to incorporate.  Label as ant killer–don’t let your kids or pets get a hold of it.  Place a small amount of the liquid in the path of the ants (I put some on a plastic spoon so I can toss it when they’re gone).  Let them have their sugary meal–they won’t be return customers.
