I decided to start penning The Rehomesteader’s Memoir.  Publishing a book has long been a goal of mine and though I’d be happy writing anything from a child’s picture book to a young adult novel, the idea of documenting the farm’s history during the last few years of transformation has been on my mind for quite some time.

I’ve been holding back on the blog, keeping the best stories for a book.  The old acreage is full of tales of tragic deaths, surprise births, battles to tame the land and finding balance with whatever nature throws our way, all while toiling to bring some dignity back to the property.

If nothing else, it’ll be a good exercise in journaling, knowing the best part about composing non-fiction is that there’s nothing to make up–it’s just a matter of presenting it in a gripping manner.  And as long as the girls keep giggling, yelling and hushing each other instead of taking their afternoon naps, there’s no way I’m getting any shut-eye either.  Today seems like as good a day as any to start.

  1. That would be great. It's so hard to let others read my writings, as I'm sure you well know. I'll see what I can get written down over the next few months and would love to have your opinion on it. Thank you!
