I am positive that Mother Nature has a lively sense of humor.  As I was leaving my sister’s rockin’ golden birthday party last month, there was a breathtaking maple in her neighbor’s yard.  The flame-red leaves were the epitome of autumn.

My sister pointed out the irony of this fabulous tree: though crimson trees are a sure sign of fall, this one mimics something else that is the embodiment of summer.  Have any guesses what it is?

A strawberry tree!
Summer seems to have made a late appearance this year, even if it’s only a clever imitation.  Mother Nature knows just how to make me chuckle.
